Applicability Extent of 2-D Heat Equation for Numerical Analysis of a Multiphysics Problem
(Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2017-01)
This work focuses on thermal problems, solvable using the heat equation. The fundamental question being answered here is: what are the limits of the dimensions that will allow a 3-D thermal problem to be accurately modelled using a 2-D Heat Equation? The presented work solves 2-D and 3-D heat equations using the Finite Difference Method, also known as the Forward-Time Central-Space (FTCS) method, ...
Harvest control rules in modern fisheries management
(Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2016-07-20)
Harvest control rules have become an important tool in modern fisheries management, and are increasingly adopted to provide continuity in management practices, to deal with uncertainty and ecosystem considerations, and to relieve management decisions from short-term political pressure. We provide the conceptual and institutional background for harvest control rules, a discussion of the structure of ...
Iron/Brønsted Acid Catalyzed Asymmetric Hydrogenation: Mechanism and Selectivity-Determining Interactions
(Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2015-06-03)
Hydrogenation catalysts involving abundant base metals such as cobalt or iron are promising alternatives to precious metal systems. Despite rapid progress in this field, base metal catalysts do not yet achieve the activity and selectivity levels of their precious metal counterparts. Rational improvement of base metal complexes is facilitated by detailed knowledge about their mechanisms and ...
Palladium(0)-Catalyzed Cross-Couplings of 2-Bromophosphinine
(Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2013-05-21)
A new Negishi-type cross-coupling of 2-bromophosphinine has been developed. The new method expands the scope of palladium-catalyzed couplings to monobromophosphinines, which have been considered as poor substrates so far. Moreover, aryl-, alkenyl-, and alkynylzinc bromides were found to be effective coupling partners.
Playing Cultural Memory: Framing History in 'Call of Duty: Black Ops' and 'Czechoslovakia 38-89: Assassination'
(Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2016-03-21)
The present article brings game studies into dialogue with cultural memory studies and argues for the significance of computer games for historical discourse and memory politics. Drawing upon the works of Robert Rosenstone and Astrid Erll, we develop concepts and theories from film studies and adapt them to respond to the media specificity of computer games. Through a critical reading of the first ...
Bioluminescence as an ecological factor during high Arctic polar night
(Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2016)
Bioluminescence commonly influences pelagic trophic interactions at mesopelagic depths. Here we characterize a vertical gradient in structure of a generally low species diversity bioluminescent community at shallower epipelagic depths during the polar night period in a high Arctic fjord with in situ bathyphotometric sampling. Bioluminescence potential of the community increased with depth to a peak ...
Suicidal tendencies as correlates of disability measures
(Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2015-07-27)
Abstract
Disabilities and resultant handicaps may impair health-related quality of life to the degree that individuals feel
that life is not worth living. Using archived 2009 Canadian Community Health Survey data, this study found
that each of seven measures of disabilities (Health Utilities Index sub-scales of problems in (1) vision, (2)
hearing, (3) speech, (4) mobility, (5) dexterity, (6) ...
Arm Crank and Wheelchair Ergometry Produce Similar Peak Oxygen Uptake but Different Work Economy Values in Individuals with Spinal Cord Injury
(Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2016-03-20)
<i>Objective. </i> To study whether values for peak oxygen uptake (VO2peak) and work economy (WE) at a standardized workload are different when tested by arm crank ergometry (ACE) and wheelchair ergometry (WCE). <i>Methods. </i> Twelve paraplegic men with spinal cord injury (SCI) in stable neurological condition participated in this cross-sectional repeated-measures study. We determined ...
Experimental and four-component relativistic DFT studies of tungsten carbonyl complexes
(Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2015-07-24)
We present a theoretical and experimental study of the structure and nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) parameters of the pentacarbonyltungsten complexes of η1-2-(trimethylstannyl)-4,5-dimethylphosphinine, η2-norbornene, and imidazolidine-2-thione. The three complexes have a pseudo-octahedral molecular structure with the six ligands bonded to the tungsten atom. The η1</sup ...
Use of social media for sexual health promotion: a scoping review
(Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2016-09-19)
<b>Background: </b>
