Collaboration between Sami and non-Sami formal and family caregivers in rural municipalities
(Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2015-09-17)
The aim of this study was to explore how caregivers experience collaboration in rural
municipalities in northern Norway. We conducted fieldwork with a dementia team in addition to
seventeen qualitative in-depth interviews with formal and family caregivers. The caregivers had
ethnic Sami and ethnic Norwegian affiliation. The theme ‘negotiating ethnic and ethno-political
positions’ was identified ...
Humanistisk og estetisk omsorg: Om medborgerskap, kulturell identitet og ukrenkelig menneskeverd
(Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2016)
Antallet eldre personer øker i befolkningen.
Maternal serum levels of perfluoroalkyl substances and organochlorines and indices of fetal growth: a Scandinavian case-cohort study
(Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2016-10-26)
Background: The associations between prenatal exposure
to endocrine disruptive chemicals (EDCs) and fetal growth are
inconsistent, and few studies have considered small-for-gestational-age
(SGA) birth as an outcome. Our current study of
Scandinavian parous women aimed to address these inconsistencies
and gaps in the literature.
Methods: This case–cohort study included 424 ...
Trade-offs in pastoral governance in Norway: Challenges for biodiversity and adaptation
(Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2016-02-08)
Norway is committed to the two-fold policy objective of preserving biodiversity and maintaining traditional local livelihoods. This creates management dilemmas with the potential to undermine the legitimacy of both national and international policies. In this article, we take a social-ecological perspective to highlight how these two policy objectives are linked and interdependent and, therefore, ...
Carotenoid metabolism during bilberry (Vaccinium myrtillus L.) fruit development under different light conditions is regulated by biosynthesis and degradation
(Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2016-04-21)
Background: Carotenoids are important pigments and precursors for central signaling molecules associated in fruit
development and ripening. Carotenoid metabolism has been studied especially in the climacteric tomato fruit but
the content of carotenoids and the regulation of their metabolism have been shown to be highly variable between
fruit species. Non-climacteric berries of the genus ...
An audit and feedback intervention study increased adherence to antibiotic prescribing guidelines at a Norwegian hospital
(Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2016-02-27)
Background:
Appropriate antibiotic prescribing is associated with favourable levels of antimicrobial resistance (AMR) and clinical outcomes. Most intervention studies on antibiotic prescribing originate from settings with high level of AMR. In a Norwegian hospital setting with low level of AMR, the literature on interventions for promoting guideline-recommended antibiotic prescribing in ...
Secure and scalable statistical computation of questionnaire data in R
(Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2016-08-12)
Collecting data via a questionnaire and analyzing them while preserving respondents' privacy may increase the number of respondents and the truthfulness of their responses. It may also reduce the systematic differences between respondents and non-respondents. In this paper, we propose a privacy- preserving method for collecting and analyzing survey responses using secure multi-party computation. The ...
Amphipathic β2,2-Amino Acid Derivatives Suppress Infectivity and Disrupt the Intracellular Replication Cycle of Chlamydia Pneumoniae
(Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2016-06-09)
We demonstrate in the current work that small cationic antimicrobial β2,2-amino acid derivatives
(Mw < 500 Da) are highly potent against Chlamydia pneumoniae at clinical relevant
concentrations (< 5 μM, i.e. < 3.4 μg/mL). C. pneumoniae is an atypical respiratory pathogen
associated with frequent treatment failures and persistent infections. This gram-negative
bacterium has a biphasic life cycle ...
Fern rhizomes as fodder in Norway
(Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2016-09-06)
Background: Although ferns are often known under collective names in Norway, e.g. blom, a substantial number
of vernacular names for individual fern species are known, in particular for useful or poisonous taxa. In the past, the
rhizomes (Norwegian: moldfôr) of selected species were collected for fodder. Only scattered records of such use are
available from southern Norway, and the tradition’s ...
Porphyry Cu mineralization related to the small Tertiary volcanic intrusions in the Bučim ore deposit, Eastern Macedonia
(Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2016-02-29)
The paper presents data about the geology, geochemistry, structure, genesis and specific features
of the Bučim porphyry Cu deposit which is actively mined in Macedonia. The porphyry
mineralization (0.3 % Cu, 0.3-0.5 ppm Au) is spatially and temporarily associated with Tertiary
subvolcanic intrusions of latitic and latitic-andesitic composition. The intrusions occurred
during Oligo-Miocene time ...
