Lofoten
The skerries near Røst	Pietro Querini, an Italian trader, shipwrecked at Røst after a terrible storm in 1432.
Finnesset in Vågan	The fishing trade, between local fishermen and merchants from Bergen and Trondheim, began as early as the Middle Ages. Here is a picture of Finnesset, a trading center at Vågan.
Fiskebøltinden in Lofoten	The La Recherche Expedition also visited Lofoten during its extensive 1838-1840 expedition.
Svolvær Harbor	Numerous Norwegian painters converged on Lofoten at the end of the 19th-century and the beginning of the 20th-century. Gunnar Berg, from Svolvær, was one of them.
