Roald Amundsen sailed as the first person through the Northwest Passage onboard the vessel Gjøa, in 1903-06.

The American Robert Peary reached the North Pole, after having attempted to reach this goal three times, on 6 April 1909.
icon Roald Amundsen through the Northeast Passage
From 1918-20, Roald Amundsen sailed through the Northeast Passage. His main objective was to duplicate Nansen's attempt to drift across the Arctic Ocean.
