§1 The aim of the society
The aim of the Norwegian Society for Eighteenth-Century Studies is
to encourage interest and research in all disciplines and fields of study
relating to the eighteenth century. The society is associated with the
International Society for Eighteenth-Century Studies / Société internationale
d'étude du XVIIIe siècle.
§2 Membership

fields of study relating to the eighteenth century. Basis in higher education is

persons of limited means pay half of the subscription fee. Institutions pay a
double subscription fee.
§3 General meeting
Ordinary general meeting is held every second year. The general
meeting approves the reports and accounts of the executive committee, can change
the subscription fee and constitution, elects a new executive committee and a
new election committee and decides a programme for the next two years.
Resolutions are decided by a normal majority vote. Changes in the constitution
demand a majority of two thirds. The executive committee convenes the general
meeting. If half of the members demand it, an extraordinary general meeting can
be convened.
§4 Executive committee
The
executive committee of the society consists of a president, a vice-president, a
treasurer, a secretary, a member of the board and two substitutes. Members of
the executive committee must be members of the society. If the means of the
society should be due to revision, the executive committee must engage an
accountant.
§5 Election committee
The
election committee consists of a president and three members. The task of the
committee is to find candidates for the assignments of the society.

The society
shall inform the members about meetings and recorded publications. Such
information is to be given through a bulletin published at least once a year,
and through an updated website.
§7 Dissolution
The society
can only be dissolved by a general assembly where dissolution is proposed by at
least three quarters of the individual members. If this should happen, the means
of the society shall be delegated to the international society, or eventually to
other national institutions that work with eighteenth-century studies.
